The Reston Youth League’s Be AMYazing triathlon event for kids continues to be an outstanding success and has been held every year on Mother’s Day since 2008 in memory of Amy Boyle, who fought valiantly against diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG). For years, the Childhood Brain Tumor Foundation has funded research supported by the Be AMYazing event and other support raised by CBTF to target studies to help further research for DIPG.
DIPG is one of the understudied brain tumors that has been receiving more research attention in the past several years. The pediatric brain tumor community is appreciative of the support from the Reston Youth League, Amy’s family and friends and the community for creating awareness and holding such a phenomenal event.
At the CBTF’s 25th Anniversary Gala, chaired by Dr. Roger and Mrs. Bashi Packer, the three founders of Be AMYazing/Amy’s Amigos, Hannah Becker, Kacey Hirshfeld, and Olivia Wolfe, were honored for their dedication to the CBTF cause and for their heartfelt remembrance of their friend, Amy.
