Our Mission

Our mission is to support and fund basic science or clinical research for childhood brain tumors. We are dedicated to heightening public awareness of this devastating disease and improving prognosis and the quality of life for those that it affects.

Families of children with brain tumors, friends, and physicians founded CBTF because progress concerning treatment of central nervous system tumors has been slow due to lack of research funding, especially in pediatric brain tumors. We work closely with clinicians and researchers in the field of childhood brain tumors. Dedicated physicians constitute our dedicated voluntary Medical and Scientific Advisory from the following:

Children’s National
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Inc.
Emory Health Sciences
The Johns Hopkins University Hospital
Texas Children’s Cancer Center

Through the Childhood Cancer Ombudsman program we advocate for those suffering from disabilities resulting from treatment side effects.

“We are close to dramatically changing the way we treat childhood brain tumors,
promising safer therapy with more children cured. Research funded by the
Childhood Brain Tumor Foundation and the Brain Tumor Institute
is making that dream a reality!”
-Roger J. Packer, M.D.
