Cookies for Kids' Cancer

In December of 2008, my then seven-year-old brother was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a type of brain tumor that they found to be cancerous. Finding this out shortly after Christmas, the world seemed to come to a halt as the reality sunk in. Now three years cancer-free, we are so thankful to still have Brian around and for the love and care he received from Children’s National Medical Center and his medical staff. We host an annual fundraiser for a brain tumor organization in Brian’s honor, but we wanted to help out pediatric cancer patients specifically. We had heard of the organization Cookies for Kid’s Cancer and so we did our own little spin on it. We hosted a cookie fundraiser, Cookies for Cancer, during the holiday season, selling cookies by the dozen with 100% of the proceeds going toward the Childhood Brain Tumor Foundation. We thought this was a perfect organization to give back to help further research and care for childhood brain tumor patients. We want every child to have the same opportunities that my brother has had and to be able to fight this battle. It was such a fun and rewarding experience and I encourage others to start baking for the battle!
