The Be AMYazing! Reston Youth Triathlon was started 10 years ago by a group of high school students to raise money for the Childhood Brain Tumor Foundation (CBTF) in memory of their classmate, Amy Boyle, who had died of DIPG in 2008. Inspired by Amy Boyle and her “never give up” attitude they have decided to proceed with the triathlon this year but with a twist.
While they won’t be able to hold the triathlon in person this year, like many things these days, they will be doing it virtually with the Be AMYazing! 2020 Virtual Duathlon.
What does a Virtual Race mean?
- Instead of a triathlon they will be holding a virtual duathlon where racers will complete a run-bike-run.
- Parents will determine where their children will complete the race and set-up the course according to the distances set forth.
- Racers will choose their own day and time to complete the race, but it must be completed sometime between May 10th and 17th and then times reported to the Facebook Event page.
- Racers will be provide a race shirt, medal, and 10th anniversary commemorative headband to registered racers that will be distributed at a later party date or other arrangements can be made.
- New 15 to 18 year-old age group
- New Family Relay Team category that is open to any age
- Registration fee will be $40 (same as early bird) for individuals and $60 for Family Relay Team.
