Following his training in pediatrics, pediatric hematology-oncology and neuro-oncology all at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, Dr. MacDonald continued to build an academic career that encompasses the clinical, basic and translational research of childhood brain tumors. His work has focused on the molecular and genetic regulation of brain tumor angiogenesis and metastasis, with the goal of identifying novel targeted therapeutics and strategies to bring forward to clinical investigation. Dr. MacDonald has served as the Director of the Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Program within the Aflac Cancer Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta since 2009, and prior to that he served as the Clinical Director of Neuro-Oncology at Children’s National Medical Center from 1998-2009.
